Review: Deep Blue Sea

The Hope Tavern, Market Rasen, Sunday 8 October 2017

An absolutely brilliant afternoon over in Market Rasen at The Hope Tavern.

The landlord, Graeme Sellers, certainly knows his job, one minute we were in a country pub with a wonderful carvery next thing you know the staff had converted the carvery room into a night club, the crowd just seemed to appear from nowhere, the band were set up and ready.
And boy did they let the crowd have it.
With Iago Banet from Spain on lead & slide guitar, backed up by the rhythm section of Graeme Wheatley (London) on bass and New Yorker Neil Barton on drums and fronted by the beautiful Maya Lia (London) with outstanding vocals, it just got better and better.
What a cracking afternoon! and what an amazing band "Deep Blue Sea"

"The new songs are simply outstandingly good. The instrumentation is nicely balanced and beautifully played with a voice and delivery to die for. Will this band will eclipse what has gone before?
One comment: Given this start, No problemo!"

Drums work well with melodic bass lines, the powerhouse vocal delivery was perfect and Iago’s solo playing showed that he’s not just a rocker, he has a genuine feel for the blues. Give Deep Blue Sea a chance to let loose, it's duly grasped. The verdict: Deep Blue Sea: waving, not drowning.

I was privileged to see you perform at the festival last Friday. It was an amazing performance. Bought the cd's and have just finished listening to them. Love them all. It would be great to see more of you up north. I'll keep my eye's open for you. Once again, many thanks for a night to remember. The lead singer sang like an angel. I cant get her voice out of my head. I must say you were all on top of your game. More please!
